Alaigal is a Tamil word meaning waves. We have chosen this name for our programs for women.
We work with 11 communities around our centre, located at Seethammal extension, opposite SIET. We have enrolled 1100 women ( 100 from each community ) to ascertain their aptitude, skill sets, and areas of work.
We have devised an elaborate form calling for all details which these women have filled through our community enumerators.Based on this information, we are developing various types of programs for their skills development and employment and social entrepreneurship. 6 areas of livelihoods have been chosen to commence training and enhance their employability chances. These 6 skills are: Driving, Digital Literacy, Hospital attenders and Housekeeping and Day Security personnel , Idly Dosa Batter making and production of Areca nut plates. In this, we are happy to announce to that we have started production of Areca Nut plate making process with the generous help of Mrs and Mr Khandelwal and with support from 41ers, and donation from Mr Nishcay. 20 women have been identified for under going training in 4 wheeler drive in the month of April 2021. The training modules for hospital attenders, housekeeping and Day security personnel is ready and will be commencing during the month of May 2021.
We are also involving women for the marketing of Microgreens, manufacturing and selling of hygienically prepared Idly Dosa Batter and preparing women to be involved in Urban farming.

Social entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills for NGO partners
Kalpavriksha which is being launched as an E- Merchandising site with shop and donate concept, will be actively supported by women for packing, sealing, labelling, inventory and logistics etc.
Health camps will be shortly organised for Girls for eye check and dental and hygiene related issues.
We are organising free counselling services for individuals and families through RebootLife which is our sister concern involved in Counseling services.
Our Collaborators are Round Table Madras Mylapore, 41ers, ASSCOD, Pitchandikulam Forest team and Bio resource centre at Auroville.
Projects on Women Empowerment and Children s Education supported by Rotary Club of Chennai Capital. Date of signing the MoU scheduled on 9th Aug 2021.
